Path of Exile

Enter the dark fantasy world of Wraeclast and prepare to fight for power and vengeance in Path of Exile, a free-to-play action role-playing video game developed and published by Grinding Gear Games. With settings similar to Diablo 2, you'll play as an exile who has been thrown from your homeland to the corrupted and deeply hostile continent of Wraeclast. Start by selecting your character class (Duelist, Marauder, Ranger, Shadow, Templar, and Witch). Each class is rigged with one or two of the three core attributes: Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence. These attributes have different skills which can be acquired by your character as it progresses. The game offers a complex skillset system which allows you to customize your character by combining passive skills in countless new ways. It also has a gem-socketing system, which will enable you to create powerful hybrids that go beyond the usual tank/healer/damage-dealing classes. Unlike other RPGs, Path of Exile doesn't have an in-game currency system. You can obtain items either by looting from enemies or through the in-game barter system. Each item has its own inherent use such as upgrading an item's rarity level, rerolling affixes, or improving an item's quality. Most of the items are used to modify and upgrade equipment, although some could also make portals to a town or grant skill refund points. The game also features a league system where each one has their own set of rules, item accessibility, and the aftermath. There are two permanent leagues available in the game: Standard, also known as the default gameplay league, where characters who die respawn in the last city they visited. Hardcore, this is similar to permadeath in other games where characters who die cannot be resurrected but instead will respawn back in the Standard league. If you are a fan of gory, slasher games, then you this is the one game you shouldn't miss. The rich and exciting progression system coupled with the cycle of slaying, looting, and upgrading will definitely hook for hours. Path of Exile is available to play for free on Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
